We are planning a visit by a small group of students from the Queen's Foundation to visit the Theological College of Lanka, Sri Lanka for three weeks (excluding travel) in early July 2015.

The primary aim of the trip is to enhance the ministerial formation of students at Queen’s who are being trained for public representative ministry. Applications are therefore primarily invited from sponsored Anglican and Methodist students in the Centre for Ministerial Formation. Independent students whose studies at Queen’s are intended to shape them for ministry in their own church are welcome to apply, but as there is no institutional funding from their Churches, they would need to be able to pay for their travel themselves. We estimate that this will be in the region of £1,200.

We will be inviting the wider student community to contribute to the overall funding of the trip through some fundraising activity over the next year. Those who apply to go on the trip should be prepared to play an active part in this.

If you are interested in being a part of this visit please complete the attached form, giving a reasoned statement about why you think this experience would extend your learning and enhance your formation as a minister of the church. You may want to consider making contact with a member of the group who travelled there last year – if you do, please inform Gail Harris (harrisg@queens.ac.uk) and she will forward your details to one of the students concerned.

Applications should be submitted by December 1st 2014 and should be discussed with your personal tutor before being submitted.
