Dear all,

Building on the success of last year’s study skills workshops, I will be running 2 different sessions this term focused on: developing critical thinking skills and studying Theology in your 2nd/ 3rd language.

a.      Developing critical thinking skills

Ever received assignment feedback that asks you to develop your critical thinking or suggests that your work is ‘more descriptive than analytical’? This session will give you a range of practical hints and tips on how to engage with theological topics and questions accurately and analytically.

However, the implications of critical thinking not only apply to theological writing but our wider thought processes and posture to self and others. Alongside the 'academic' practicalities of critical thinking, we'll be exploring how analytical thinking skills function in our spiritual development and how can they help us pose better questions of ourselves and others.

This session will tun twice:

Monday 31st January 2022: 19:00 – 20:30 on Zoom

Thursday 3rd February 2022: 19:00 – 20:30 on Zoom

(It is first come, first served. However, if these fill up quickly, I will add an additional session)

b.     Writing theology in your 2nd/ 3rd language

Many Queen’s students (and staff!) across our programmes and pathways complete their studies in their 2nd, 3rd or even 4th language. This online study skills session will offer some hints and tips about how to express yourself clearly while retaining a sense of your personal integrity and style, as well as creating a space for solidarity and sharing good practice between students. If you would find this session useful, please complete the following form. https://form.jotform.com/220163050931039

This will enable us to ensure that the session is accessible across timezones and get a sense of how many would like to attend. I will then be in touch with those interested to confirm dates and times.

Many thanks.

Please get in touch if you have any questions,
