COVID-19 Test Kit Collection

Dear Students and Staff,

As you know, we have asked all students and staff who will be on campus to take a Covid-19 test twice per week. Thank you to all who have collected LFD kits and are continuing to test.

The testing arrangements for Higher Education institutions were due to come to an end for the summer on 30th June, with the expectation that Universal Testing in the community would be used over the summer. However, the Minister for Universities announced an extension to the present arrangement, which means that test kits collection through Higher Education institutions will continue until 31st July.

With that in mind, we plan to issue kits again during this week (Tuesday to Thursday) and also during the week of 19th July if needed. As before, we encourage you to try and collect your kits from the dining room during these times but if you are unable to do so, please pick them up from reception.

Test kits continue to be readily available from larger pharmacies and online for Universal Testing. If you are attending campus out of hours, or coming in to access the library, or for residential and other events, please take advantage of this option, and take a test before coming onsite. As we are only permitted to issue kits to students and staff, we would also advise partners to take advantage of that option.

Full instructions on how to carry out the test are included in each kit. To report your results, whether positive or negative, please:

·        go to www.gov.uk/report-covid19-result

·        enter the Queen’s postcode (B15 2QH) or our site ID (LFD: Queen’s Foundation: BFQW)

·        follow the online instructions to log your result

·        you will receive a confirmation email when you have successfully completed the process

If your test result is positive, please self-isolate according to the guidance and notify us immediately at covid@queens.ac.uk. When you do, please let us know of anyone (or any group of people) at Queen’s you have been in contact with, so that we can advise them to take appropriate action. You may also wish to let a member of staff (or, for staff, your line manager) know.

You need no longer report negative results to Queen’s, as we now know that we will not be requiring this data for monitoring purposes.

If you have any queries, please email: websterd@queens.ac.uk

Many thanks for your co-operation in this matter.

With best wishes
