Covenanting Service at Queens

Greetings and best wishes for the new year!  I hope Christmas was a time of refreshment and joy.

On the 16th and 17th January those who worship in the Queen's chapel will share in a service of covenanting.  This message is especially for you, but all who belong to Queen's communities of learning may also wish to reflect this theme in your personal prayers or in corporate worship wherever you are.  You will find on the attached document some prayers you will be invited to say and as they are demanding they need to be read and pondered in advance.

The service of covenanting is something we have done for many years at Queen's, in particular in each New Year, and it draws on rich traditions.  The first prayer is drawn from the Methodist Covenant service; the second prayer responds to feedback to previous forms that felt too much like a code of conduct, so we have reshaped this in the form of a responsive prayer which echoes themes within prayers for the week of Christian Unity.

With best wishes
