Dear Students,
For many of you there are assignment deadlines coming up in the next few weeks, and some of you will be submitting assignments for the first time. To help you have a stress-free assignment submission day please note the following important points:
1. Submitting your assignment with the correct filename and in the right format
When you are submitting an assignment, please ensure that you name the file correctly. You must include your Queen’s student number.
- Your Queen’s student number can be found on Student Advantage, it starts with an ‘S’ e.g. S001234 (if you can’t find your student number please contact Registry-see below)
- The file name should be the course code and component number, followed by your Queen's student number. For example: TMM3031(QDC)C1 S000000.pdf or QFM626(PROB)C2 S00000.pdf
- The file must be in PDF format
If you feel unsure about how to submit your assignment, please look at the Moodle help section here: Moodle help with Assignment Submission
2. Submission deadlines and asking for an extension
The submission deadline is always 1.00pm on the submission deadline day (usually a Thursday). You can submit your assignment at any time before the deadline. There are penalties for work submitted after the deadline without an approved extension in place.
If you need to ask for an extension, you should do this before the deadline using Student Advantage – remember that the extension request will need to be approved by your personal tutor so requesting an extension should be done as early as possible. Extension requests cannot always be granted, please see the information in the relevant Academic Handbook for details about the circumstances under which an extension might be given.
3. Help if you have a problem submitting
If you have any technical difficulties submitting an assignment, please contact registry@queens.ac.uk or by phone on 0121 454 1527 (option 2) for help. The Registry Team (Gill Masters, Katie Cooper and Naina Jassal) are available from 9.00am-5.00pm, Monday-Thursday, 9am-3.30pm on Friday). If your need for help is urgent, please phone us, we understand that last-minute panics do sometimes happen, and it is much better to let us know so that we can help you.
Best wishes,
