Continuing Students who already receive DSA:

If you have been receiving support via DSA (Disabled Students Allowance) during this academic year and you are continuing on a Common Awards or Newman University validated programme next year please make sure that you make your application for DSA support for 2023-24 at your earliest opportunity.

Continuing Students who may be eligible for DSA support:

If you have not been receiving DSA support, but you are someone who experiences any of the following:

  • specific learning difficulty, for example dyslexia or ADHD
  • mental health condition, for example anxiety or depression
  • physical disability, for example if you have to use crutches, a wheelchair or a special keyboard
  • sensory disability, for example if you’re visually impaired, deaf or have a hearing impairment
  • long-term health condition, for example cancer, chronic heart disease or HIV
And you are on a Common Awards or Newman University validated programme. Then you may be eligible for support via DSA for your studies and you should apply for this at your earliest opportunity to make sure support is in place for next year. You can find out more here. You may wish to discuss your situation with your Personal Tutor or the Wellbeing Officer as well.

You are welcome to contact me for more help and information about the application process.

Best wishes,
