The Michael Ramsey Prize was launched in 2005 to celebrate theological books which make a valuable contribution to the faith and life of the worldwide Church. Past winners have included Mark Oakley, John Swinton, Timothy Radcliffe and NT Wright. The prize will be awarded by the Archbishop of Canterbury at a prize giving ceremony in December 2023.

With a shorter entry period for this year’s prize, by 14th June 2023, we are being encouraged to share the news of the relaunch of the prize as widely as possible and nominate theological books (published 2019-2022) for entry. From this year members of the public can nominate online a favoured book for the prize

The Archbishop of Canterbury, Justin Welby, who presides over the Prize, said: “It is absolutely vital that Christians engage thoughtfully, in a deep and robust manner, with scripture, doctrine and tradition. Relaunching the Martin Ramsey Prize in 2023 is a wonderful opportunity to support theological engagement across the Church.”

So do think about making a nomination of a book published within the four-year period 2019-2022 which you think has proved especially helpful for faith and thinking, and you'd want to encourage others to read.
