A Message from Registry for Newman and Durham (Common Awards) Students

Dear Students,

Here are four reminders about some key academic matters:

1. Academic Handbooks

Most answers to your questions about academic matters will be found in the Academic Handbook, you can access the appropriate handbook on Moodle here:

Newman Handbook

Durham Handbook

2. Your student email address

All communication from Registry regarding your academic programme and submission of assignments will be sent to you using your Queen’s email address.

If you, for any reason, do not have access to your queens.ac.uk email address then please contact registry@queens.ac.uk and we will help you with that.

3. Student Advantage

All students have a Student Advantage account. This is your view of our database and allows you to see the academic programme and modules that you have been enrolled on for 2021-22, module teaching dates and assessment deadlines etc.

You are also able to request an extension for an assignment on Student Advantage – as long as it is your first extension request for that component.

If you, for any reason, do not have access to your Student Advantage Account then please contact registry@queens.ac.uk and we will help you with that.

4. Submitting Assessments on Moodle

When you are submitting an assignment, please ensure that you name the file correctly. Every assignment submission page on Moodle contains a reminder of the correct format to use when submitting your assignment and a reminder of the way to name your file. You must include your student number.

If you have any technical difficulties submitting an assignment contact registry@queens.ac.uk for help. The Registry Team are available from 9.00am-5.00pm, Monday-Friday.

Best wishes,

Katie Cooper
