SUBJECT LINE: NOTICE OF BUILDING WORK ON CAMPUS BETWEEN NEW BUILDING AND HANDSWORTH FLATS FROM W/C 18TH MARCH TO LATE AUGUST/SEPTEMBER,

The Handsworth heating project begins next week and external ground preparation has already begun. The heating and hot water system is to be totally overhauled which will greatly improve systems for residents. The primary place you will see works being undertaken is between the New Building and the Handsworth accommodation as underground pipes are laid. Pedestrian access will not be disrupted and noise should be minimal.  Barriers and warning notices will be clearly in place as contractors will be on site from next week with their equipment. All contractors will be wearing ID at all times. They will implement their own site safety precautions and are aware this is a multi-purpose site, but please be mindful of this and pay particular care with regards to any children and pets. Vehicles, diggers, tools and toilets will soon arrive and agreed locations have been assigned for these in and around the Handsworth carpark .  Handsworth residents are already aware of the work and the work that will take place in each block and each flat later throughout the summer.

If you have any questions or concerns please report these to the facilities team via maintenance@queens.ac.uk, if anything is urgent contact reception or the duty students as usual.
