Common Awards Student Events Assistants

The Common Awards team in Durham is looking for a number of student volunteers to assist with the Common Awards Student Conference. The 2017 Conference will take place from 24th – 27th  July at The Hayes Conference Centre in Derbyshire. The theme of the conference this year is ‘Church and World’.

Comments from students who attended the 2016 conference included:

‘Every lecture was interesting, informative and challenging.’

‘My personal learning as a result is almost immeasurable!’

‘It was a wonderful opportunity to learn from different perspectives, share ideas and experiences’

Our student volunteers plan and lead worship together at the conference; they assist with arrangements for some of the other sessions; and they provide valuable feedback once the conference is over. By doing so, they do a great deal to set the tone and direction of the conference, they ensure it is as rich an experience as possible, and they help guarantee that our future plans are accountable to student voices.

We are looking for volunteers:

  • -         who are studying on a Common Awards programme in the present academic year (2016/17), and
  • -         who will be available for the whole of the 2017 Student Conference, 24th – 27th  July at The Hayes Conference Centre in Derbyshire (all expenses will be covered).

You will be fully supported in all aspects of this role by the Common Awards team in Durham. Each volunteer will receive a £30 book token.

To apply: submit a one-page CV and a covering letter explaining why you would like to take on this role. These should be emailed to the Common Awards Team at common.awards@durham.ac.uk.

The deadline for applications is 31st January 2017.

If you have any questions, please contact the Common Awards Team on the email address above.

Best wishes,

Emma Harrington
