Covid-19 Precautions

In the light of increasing cases of covid-19 in the UK, Queen’s is implementing the following changes to our Covid guidance as of Monday 1st November, after the half-term break.

We will be expecting all staff and students, unless medically exempt, to wear a mask in shared indoor spaces where social distancing is not possible. In practice this will mean wearing a mask in most lectures, and in some meetings, as well as when using the library and visiting reception. The exception will be for those taking leading speaking roles, such as the lecturer, the chair of a meeting, and those leading in chapel. In situations where it is not obvious what is required, we continue to encourage people to check with one another and to presume a more cautious approach if in doubt.

Our guidance about masks in chapel and when moving around in the dining room remain as before. We also continue to encourage the regular use of hand sanitiser or hand washing, and, of course, regular testing (at least twice a week).

The dining room will continue to remain open, with the request that diners spread out as much as possible (e.g. start a new table rather than filling up a table that is already busy); a takeaway service will remain available, as will the two tables with distanced seating, as well as seating in the Gilmore room for those who wish to make use of that separated space.
